The Jambo Africa community in Thanet
Karibu — welcome · Serving Thanet since 2006

JamboAfrica

A home in Thanet where African and ethnic-minority families belong — and everyone is welcome.

For two decades we have turned isolation into belonging — celebrating culture, championing rights, and standing with children, young people and families. The same compassion now reaches our work in Kenya.

Who we are

Everyone deserves to feel at home.

Jambo Africa Community UK began in Thanet, working alongside African and ethnic-minority families who too often felt unseen. For more than twenty years, that local work has been the heart of everything we do.

We are not about special treatment — we are about belonging. We celebrate what makes us different and what we share, opening our circles to anyone who wants to be part of a kinder, more connected Thanet.

Our international work

The same heart, reaching further

The compassion that drives our work in Thanet extends to Kenya, where we protect vulnerable girls and walk with young women on the road to recovery.

Our UK and Kenyan work share one belief: every person deserves protection, dignity and opportunity.

Help us build the Jambo Africa Safe Village

We have secured two acres in Kajiado County, Kenya. Now we need your help to build a 30-bed rescue and rehabilitation centre for girls fleeing FGM, forced marriage and violence — sheltering 120+ girls a year with counselling, education and a path to independence.

“We started Jambo Africa so that no one in our community would ever feel they had to face the world alone. Everyone is welcome at our table.”
